The Agriculture Department organised a bike rally at Cabo-de-Rama on the theme and awareness on 'Save water, Save Soil'.
The rally was attended by Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and Quepem MLA Altone D'Costa, with both leaders addressing a gathering at a brief function inside the Cabo-de-Rama fort in Khola village.
Tawadkar appealed to youth to take the initiative to protect nature.
"Today, modern technology and use of chemical fertilizers have increased so much that the use of organic fertilizers is decreasing. And the consequences of this will be felt in the near future, for that it is very important for everyone to wake up now," said Tawadkar.
Congratulating the Agriculture Department and commending the participants, D'Costa said maintaining and conserving nature in its true form is a real development.
Director of Agriculture Neville Alphonso, Director of Archives Nilesh Phaldesai and some members of Khola Panchayat were also present at the event.
The entire program was coordinated by Assistant Director of Agriculture Department Anant Hoble, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Assistant Agriculture Officer Nilesh Khanwilkar.
