PANAJI: Condemning the harassment and torture meted out to thousands of unemployed youth who queued up for an interview of a temporary post of just 10 months at the North Goa Collectorate building, Panjim on Monday, AICC secretary, Girish Chodankar claimed this exposed the BJP’s attitude towards unemployment in Goa.
Over 3000 candidates showed up for the interview for 64 temporary posts. “The government made a mockery of the youth who were in the queue since 6 am without breakfast when they were sent back without an interview. This exposes the BJP government’s attitude towards unemployment in Goa,” Chodankar said.
“For the last six years, the BJP government has failed to provide employment opportunities to Goan youth despite promising them jobs or unemployment dole of Rs 4,000 per month,” he said.
Chodankar also criticised the government for setting a very difficult paper for recruiting 80 accountants to posts at the Director of Accounts which was answered by nearly 8000 candidates. We doubt that this exam was conducted to help selected candidates. We also demand that this exam be conducted again in a fair manner since every candidate who answered the exam was feeling let down for the lack of fair opportunity.”
