MARGAO

If there is one Assembly segment in Salcete where the BJP is aiming to score big, it is Margao represented by Congress-turned-BJP MLA DIgambar Kamat.

Even Congress leaders in private admit that the party faces an  uphill task to maintain the party’s performance in Margao in the coming Lok Sabha polls, including the 2019 election, post-entry of Digambar Kamat in the Congress.

Poll analysts say Kamat is expected to go all out in his fiefdom in the coming Lok Sabha poll to prove a point or two to all and sundry that his writ runs large in Margao irrespective of the party he belongs to.

None other than Kamat knows that a comfortable lead for the BJP in Margao under his leadership will send a message loud and clear that he calls the shot in the constituency. It will help convey a message to the BJP bosses in Goa and in Delhi that it is time he is rewarded for his contribution after his return to the party-fold after 17 long years.
