Will Deputy CM Manohar Ajgaonkar manage to get a slice of the migrant vote atop Moti Dongor and help turn the tide against opposition leader Digambar Kamat?
Ajgaonkar descended on Moti Dongor around noon when the Opposition leader also made his presence felt atop the hillock.
The Deputy CM was heard levelling allegations against his rival for using Moti Dongor as a vote bank and for doing nothing for the inhabitants over the years.
While Ajgaonkar was seen with his group of supporters, Kamat also made his presence felt in the area. One could see Kamat’s supporters from the migrant-inhabited locality welcoming him.
The Moti Dongor plays host to around 2500 migrant votes that helped give Kamat unassailable leads in every election. In fact, the one side polling at Moti Dongor in favour of Kamat had left the BJP struggling and stranded midway in almost every election.
Ajgaonkar, however, has set on a journey atop the hillock to stem the tide and garner the much-needed migrant vote by promising to legalise their houses and resolve the kabrastan issue.
A huge queue of voters inhabiting the area near Cine Lata was seen at the polling booth housed in the MMC building. Ajgaonkar’s brother Rajendra was personally monitoring the situation to ensure the migrants vote for the former.
