A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation headed by former Aldona MLA and BJP State Vice-President Glenn Ticlo met the Administrator of Comunidades, Pandurang Gad, to seek faster processing of applications under the State government's Mhaje Ghar scheme involving comunidade land.
The delegation, comprising local BJP functionaries from the Aldona constituency, highlighted the difficulties faced by several applicants whose files have remained pending for an extended period. Party representatives requested the administrator to take steps to ensure that eligible beneficiaries do not face further delays.
During the meeting, Gad explained that scrutiny of applications is in progress but a number of procedural hurdles have slowed the process.
He pointed out that in certain cases, village comunidades had not granted the required approvals, compelling applicants to approach the Administrator of Comunidades directly for intervention.
Another major issue concerns landholding limits prescribed under the scheme. Officials noted that beneficiaries are eligible for only up to 300 square metres of land, and applicants possessing larger plots must first complete formalities relating to the excess area before their cases can be processed.
Speaking after the meeting, Ticlo said the BJP had received numerous representations from residents of villages including Nachinola and Bastora regarding the pending applications.
He said the delegation was informed that necessary procedures are being completed and that the administrator had assured them that the backlog of files would be addressed within the next month.
The BJP leaders expressed hope that deserving applicants would soon receive the required approvals under the housing scheme.
