Alina's rejoinder to AAP's statement hitting out at her
Says Dr Marconi should first verify facts

Hitting out at Dr Marconi Correia of the AAP over his statement that Cortalim had only witnessed foundation stones which was meant to fool the people, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha said Rome was not built in a day and Dr Marconi should look around in the entire constituency and verify the facts before making statements that do not suit a man of his stature.
In a press release, Saldanha said in the last fortnight alone works worth about Rs 6 crore had been launched in various villages of Cortalim constituency through the departments of GSUDA, WRD, PWD and RDA. She pointed to major works being the market complex at Zuari Nagar, protection wall and sluice gate to Tollem Bundh at Velsao and development of football ground cum joggers park at Cortalim (Phase-I).
Saldanha stated that she has been working very hard to see that most of the promises made by her are fulfilled.
“Right from day one, I have been committed to the development of Cortalim constituency. I made all possible efforts to ensure that the development reached each and every ward of the various villages of the constituency.”
“Dando-Mollo bridge in Velsao, twin 12-sitter Sulabh Sauchalaya in Zuari Nagar, Rean-Paaz road in Cuelim-Cansaulim, culvert and sluice gate at Manxer in Cortalim, culvert on NH17A at Sancoale, culvert near St Thomas Church are some among many other works that are complete, while projects of Cortalim market complex, renovation of Velsao market and Cansaulim PHC are some of the works that are in progress.”
While countering the allegations made by Marconi, Saldanha further said, “For any project to begin, sometimes, the old existing structure has to be demolished so that reconstruction can begin as per the plan.”
“Besides, before this was done, the Cansaulim PHC was shifted to an alternative venue. Also, I would like to remind the doctor that there is night medical facility provided by the PHC at Bazarwaddo, along the main road, for the benefit of the people.”
Saldanha concluded saying that the work done by her as per late Matanhy’s manifesto is there for all to see and the public has time and again admitted that the constituency has seen development that did not happen for the last 25 years and for details of the development work done, Dr Marconi and his AAP colleagues may refer to the booklet of works done by the MLA in Cortalim Constituency which has been released recently.
