VALPOI
The situation in Mauxi village has returned to normal after more than 35 people were affected by food poisoning on Saturday. All those who were admitted to the Community Health Centre Valpoi were sent home after their condition normalised, according to the medical officer.
Meanwhile, water supply department has collected water samples from this village to undertake tests for water contamination.
It may be recalled that on Saturday more than 35 people were hit by food poisoning after they consumed shellfish for lunch. Soon after lunch, some of them suffered bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea and were rushed to CHC Valpoi for treatment. Sources said that only three women who were admitted in CHC Valpoi initially appeared to be critical.
When contacted, water supply department sources said that as a preventive measure more than five water samples collected were sent for analysis.
If it turns out that there was contamination in water after analysis, appropriate solution will be worked out.
Meanwhile local panch members from Mauxi village Krishna Gaonkar and Ashok Gaonkar thanked CHC medical officer Dr Sanket Fadte for providing proper treatment for the people of
Mauxi village.
Dr Fadte, they claimed, was also responsible for dispelling unfound fears of the people in food poisoning case.
