Amicable solution to MoI row soon: BJP

State BJP president to be elected on January 16

PANAJI

The State Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said an amicable solution to Medium of Instruction issue would be found by taking everyone into confidence.

Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in Panaji, spokesperson Narendra Sawaikar said, “On the issue of MoI, we will go ahead as per the 2012 election manifesto. The erstwhile government took a decision on the matter and hushed it up and continued grants to some schools. Our stand is that we will take everyone into confidence and find an amicable solution to the issue.”

Meanwhile, the State President of BJP will be elected on January 16.

“The Party’s district-level committees will be elected on January 14 and 15 after which elections for the State President will be held on January 16”, informed Sawaikar.

To participate in the elections and offer guidance, BJP’s State Observer Purushottam Rupala and All India Joint General Secretary B L Santosh will be in Goa. Additionally, the election officer who will be appointed by the Party will oversee the entire process.

With the State Assembly elections merely a year away, BJP is gearing up from the grass-root level. It has already appointed its booth-level committee and training camps have already been conducted. They have conducted a membership drive earlier with the Party having nearly 4.3 lakh members in the State.

“Presently, the Party’s constituency committees are being elected. As per today’s report, elections have already been completed in 30 constituencies and the rest will be completed by January 13”, he said.
