In the midst of the political storm triggered in Goa over the Goa First alliance between the Goa Forward Party and Aam Aadmi Party, the Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai headed to Ajmer where he visited the sacred Ajmer Sharif Dargah and sought the blessings of Khwaja Garib Nawaz for peace, prosperity and the well-being of every Goemkar.
Accompanied by Goa Forward Party vice-president Akbar Mulla and General Secretary, Organisation Durgadas Kamat, Sardesai also visited the revered Brahma Temple at Pushkar, Rajasthan. In a tweet, Sardesai said he has sought Lord Brahma’s blessings for Goa’s peace and prosperity.
After visiting the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Sardesai tweeted that Goa has always been strongest when its people stand together. At moments that demand courage and purpose, differences become smaller and the larger cause becomes greater, he said.
He added: “Khwaja Garib Nawaz taught us that unity is built by looking beyond differences and coming together in service of something bigger than ourselves. Perhaps Goa too stands at such a moment. Different paths. Different voices. But when the destination is the same, there comes a time to walk together.”
The Goa Forward Party has come under the spotlight after the regional party stitched an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party on the banner of Goa First, triggering a backlash from the Congress party as the Principal opposition party threatened to field a candidate against Sardesai on his home turf.
However, indications have come from the Congress party that the leadership of the Principal opposition party is ready to open the doors for the Goa Forward Party, triggering speculations whether leaders of the two parties are in touch with each other over the continuation of the alliance.
