Briefing the media, Amonkar said the local politician has booked the MPT school ground for seven months without providing details of the events that will be organised during these months. “The ground is booked on every Sunday and other holidays to organise sports activities without giving details of the sports activities that will be organised during these days,” said Amonkar.“I never expected that the politician will stoop so low to curtail the freedom of the youth, who want to independently organize functions,” he added.“If the politician behaves in the same manner, he will spoil the youth and the youth who want to keep themselves busy in some social activities will lend up in getting into anti-social activities,” said Amonkar.“When I had applied to conduct football tournament from July 17 to 24, the Mormugoa Port Trust Education Society (MPTES) informed me that the ground is booked by the local politician and if I want to conduct any sport-related activities, then I should take permission from the politician concerned,” said Amonkar.“I sought permission under the banner of Jai Tasra Memorial Trust to organise football tournament in memory of late Rajiv Gandhi. However, I was also informed that MPTES cannot grant the permission as it is already booked.”Amonkar informed that most of the grounds are under upgradation and the lone government school ground at Bogda is also controlled by the politician.
