Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai has on Tuesday laid stressed on spiritual tourism as he embarked on a visit to holy places across South Goa under the Khushal Kalyan Yatra programme.
Saying that Goa is known for a tourist destination the world over, the government said there is ample opportunities for spiritual tourism as well in the state.
He made this comments during a visit to the Rachol Seminary on Tuesday evening as part of the Kushal Kalyan Yatra. “There is ample opportunities for spiritual tourism as well. Goa’s temples and churches could be the attraction point for tourists from world over but subject to religious discipline”, he said.
The Governor visited Rachol Seminary where Swami Vivekananda spent three days before heading to Chicago for the world conference on religions. The government was welcomed at the Rachol seminary by Fr Donato Rodrigues. Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco was also present. The Governor presented a cheque of Rs one lakh to Fr Donato Rodrigues for Rachol Seminary, and later interacted with the officials of the seminary.
As part of the Yatra, the government visited five holy places in South Goa under the “Khushal Kalyan Yatra” Programme today. The Governor has planned to visit various temples, churches, darghas and gurudwaras covering all the talukas of Goa.
In the context of an unfortunate incident that happened in Goa recently and in the context of the crisis that prevailed in the country, the Governor has announced the start of a new “Khushal Kalyan Yatra” involving visits to various holy places. During this yatra, the Governor offers prayers at these places of worship and invokes divine blessings for the peace, happiness and welfare of the people of Goa and the Nation.
Since assuming charge as the Governor of Goa in 2021, the Governor Sreedharan Pillai has undertaken several yatras across the length and breadth of Goa such as Goa Gram Sampurna Yatra, Saimik Daiz Yatra, Dweep Parichay Yatra and Goa Giriarohan Yatra to reach out and connect with the people in the State.
The governor along with First Lady of Goa Rita Sreedharan Pillai visited the Shree Anant Padmanabh temple, Savoi Verem, the Shree Mahalasa Narayani Temple, Mardol, Shree Nageshi Temple, Nageshi, besides Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Devasthan, Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin Devasthan and Shree Saptakoteshwar temple in Fatorpa.
