The Goa Union of Anganwadi Workers has threatened to agitate at Azad Maidan on December 21 if their demands are not met within 14 days.
The Anganwadi workers assembled in large numbers and submitted a memorandum to the director of social welfare on Tuesday.
They have demanded that Anganwadi workers and helpers be treated on par with government employees and provided with all facilities like TA, DA, leave and other facilities.
The association has demanded enhanced remuneration of Anganwadi workers and helpers by 20 per cent for 10 years of service and 50 per cent for 11 years and above service.
The workers have also demanded a yearly increment of Rs 1,000 to workers and Rs 500 to helpers. Also, there is a demand for seniority increment, pension scheme, retirement and voluntary retirement benefits.
Besides, Anganwadi workers have also demanded that they be absorbed in a government department as per skills and qualifications.
The Anganwadi workers and helpers have demanded that government should give the benefit of sick leave on par with government employees. They also demanded that the government follow the payment scheme of equal pay for equal work.
They have asked the government to consider the period of Anganwadi helper to worker and from worker to supervisor as the period of service.
The union has also demanded that retirement benefits be hiked to Rs 6 lakh for workers and Rs 3 lakh to helpers on completion of 15 years of service.
