Inculcate innovation
in society: Kakodkar

Eminent nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar on Saturday said India can achieve the dream of becoming an innovation society only if knowledge institutions play a pre-eminent role and things happen in a connected manner with the industry.
He was speaking on the topic ‘Moving Towards Science and Technology based Innovation Society’ at the inaugural ceremony of the silver jubilee year celebration of Saraswat Vidyalaya’s Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management Studies at Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji.
He said, “Innovation is not only a buzzword but an ability to take an idea forward to its logical implementation and this is a cultural attribute that should be inculcated in our society and the institutions that exist in the society.”
“If an architecture is developed wherein knowledge institutions play a pre-eminent role and things happen in a connected manner, I think the dream of India becoming an innovation society where innovation will turn into a process wherein knowledge will be translated into technologies and technologies into products which stand global competition”, he said.
Also present on the occasion were Saraswat Education Society Chairman Narendra Kamat, Vice-Chairman Pradeep Joshi, Secretary Rajiv Kolwalkar, Director of Higher Education Bhaskar Nayak, Principal Santosh Patkar and special invitee Manoj Caculo.
Addressing the gathering, Bhaskar Nayak underlined the need for social engineering in institutions.
“Social Engineering is required in institutions. For this, the required exercise should be carried out”, he said.
On this occasion, former principals of the college Bhaskar Nayak and D M Deshpande and former management members Vasudev Prabhu Verlekar, Suresh Prabhu Kolwalkar, Sharadkumar Rao and Vivek Kerkar were felicitated.
