A failure of the 33 KV power line to the Anjuna power substation caused a power outage in Anjuna-Caisua and Assagao villages on Friday night.

On Friday night, a 33 KV underground line connecting the Mapusa power substation to the Anjuna substation suddenly broke down and power supply was disrupted in Anjuna-Caisua and Assagao villages, which are under the jurisdiction of the substation.

Employees of the electricity department began the task of trying to locate the site of the breakdown, but could not identify it. While workers managed to restore power supply in Assagao, the power outage continued throughout the night in Anjuna, Caisua, Chapora and Vagator areas of Anjuna-Caisua Panchayat.

On Saturday morning, the staff under the supervision of Assistant Engineer Rama Sawant resumed work to identify the fault.

In the morning, the electricity department cut off electricity supply to Assagao and supplied it to Anjuna-Caisua village, bringing in some relief to residents there.

The fault in the power line was finally detected near the Vagator-Anjuna junction late in the afternoon. Repair work was taken up and power supply was restored.

Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo visited and inspected the place where the underground power line had failed. She instructed officials to complete the repair work as soon as possible and restore power supply to the affected areas.
