Anjuna Police have booked notorious Israeli national, David Driham alias Dudu, on charges of attempt to murder, even as a local Mahesh Gadekar and 10 others have been booked for assaulting Dudu and outraging the modesty of his wife.

Police said no arrests have been made so far even as Dudu who has some injuries which are not serious was admitted in the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa.

According to Anjuna Police, Dudu first stabbed a labourer employed with Mahesh Gadekar, who is running a water sports business along the Anjuna beach.

The incident happened at around 8 pm on Tuesday, after an altercation ensued between Dudu and Mahesh’s staff over damage to a jetski board on the beach.

In the resulting skirmish, Dudu assaulted the staff, Sameer Khan with a wooden danda and stabbed Arif Khan with a knife and fled from the place, police said.

In a retaliatory attack, Mahesh Gadekar and his group invited Dudu to the beach feigning to settle the issue.

“When an unsuspecting Dudu reached the beach at around 8.30 pm, Mahesh and 10 others armed with iron rods, metal pipes and wooden sticks assaulted the Israeli national and outraged his wife’s modesty,” Anjuna PI Chetan Patel said.

On receiving cross complaints, police registered an offence against Dudu under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 324 (using dangerous weapon) of IPC.

Similarly, an offence was registered against Mahesh Gadekar and 10 others under Section 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 & 148 (rioting), 324 (using dangerous weapon), 354 (outraging modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. Anjuna Police is investigating the case.
