A fire to a store room of a bar and restaurant in Anjuna resulted in a loss of Rs 1.50 lakh.
A fire tender of Mapusa fire station rushed to the spot after receiving a call at around 10.45 am. The store room located at Monteiro-vaddo, Anjuna caught fire early Saturday morning resulting in loss of housekeeping items. Items such as furniture, bed, mattress, documents, cupboards, rafters etc were destroyed in the fire.
According to the fire personnel, the firefighters managed to control the fire from spreading to the bar and restaurant and saved property of around Rs 10 lakh. The firefighting operation lasted for around two hours.
Mapusa fire station in-charge Ashok Parab along with leading firefighter Vishnu Gawas, driver operator Premanand Kambli and firefighters Tukaram Redkar, Paresh Mandrekar, Bhikaji Kaloji and Ashok Volvoikar took part in the operation.
