Anmod Ghat to reopen for heavy vehicles soon: South Collector

South Goa district Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS has on Friday said that the district administration will soon open the Anmod Ghat for heavy commercial vehicles as well.

The district Collector’s announcement assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the strike notice served by the All Goa Lorry Owners Association earlier this week.

The Collector told the media that the transport movement on Anmod Ghat was restricted by the administration after the landslide in July last. “Last week, we conducted inspection of the ongonig work and gave the green signal for plying of 6-wheeler vehicles. Since that time till date, the authorities have carried out more work at the section,” she said, adding that the administration will now give permission for plying of commercial vehicles via Anmod Ghat.
