Annual Sotreo festival to be celebrated on Mar 12

The annual Sotreo festival of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Fatorpa will be celebrated on March 12.

After the traditional rituals at around 12.30 pm on Sunday, the procession of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin along with the image of goddess will be carried in a silver palanquin along with the 12 umbrellas representing 12 vangods by youths, moves towards Cuncolim the original place of goddess.

Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Devasthan Committee President Kavendra Desai said, “Red powder is smeared on all the male participants in the festival. This procession is accompanied by hundreds of people along the journey from Mollanguinim, Siddhanagar, Gotton, Bhiunsa, Wodli to Tolyebhat the original place of goddess wherein thousands of people greet the goddess traditionally, after which the return journey begins via Maddicotto, Markutar, Demani, Payraband, Kutta , Bomdamol and back to the temple.”
