The annual Zatra of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin will be celebrated this year with religious fervour and gaiety at Fatorpa from January 15.
The five-day Zatrotsav will culminate with the procession of the Maharath in the wee hours of January 20.
The Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Temple as well as the complex has been decked up for the Zatrotsav festivities.
Addressing the media, Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin Saunstha President Kavendra Desai said the Zatra will commence on January 15 and culminate in the wee hours of January 20 with the Maharath procession.
“The Zatra of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin is celebrated by people from all walks of life. Not only people from Goa, but from the neighbouring states visit the temple to seek the blessing of Shantadurga Kunkallikarin during the Zatrotsav,” he said.
Kavendra further pointed out that the Christian community also participate in the annual Zatrotsav festivities along with the Hindu brethren with pomp and gaiety.
“A large number of our Christian brethren participate in the zatra as they worship Shantadurga Kunkallikarin as Mamai Saibin,” he added.
Given that thousands of devotees will visit the Temple at Fatorpa during the five-day festivities, Kavendra said the Management committee in coordination with the government agencies, including the Goa police, Fire brigade, PWD water supply, and the Cuncolim Municipality will provide amenities, including traffic regulation and security during the festivities.
