Antigen not full-proof test, govt playing with lives: Cong

PANAJI
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President, Girish Chodankar, on Sunday accused the BJP government of once again endangering lives of Goans by permitting entry to visitors to the State by just conducting a rapid antigen test for Covid-19 which was not full-proof.

“It is a well-known fact that the new variant named Delta Plus has already reached neighbouring Konkan region, Karnataka and Kerala. This variant can only be detected with genome sequencing. The irresponsible BJP government under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant must immediately take steps to start genome testing Facility in Goa,” Chodankar demanded.

Chodankar said the world has seen how the BJP government “murdered” innocent Covid patients due to shortage of Oxygen during the second wave.

The insensitive and corrupt BJP government remained busy settling the share of commissions which resulted in the deaths of more than 3000 people, he stated, adding that despite facing the disastrous second wave, the CM and Health Minister have not learnt a lesson.

“The mismanagement of the pandemic still continues as the government is clueless on facing the third wave, especially the new Covid variants like Delta Plus,” he said.

Sawant is busy making fake annoucements and the Health Minister has gone missing in the last few days, Chodankar alleged and cited the WHO warning of the Delta variants found in nearly 100 countries.

“The spread of this variant can be controlled by early detection and containment and hence we should have our own genome sequencing laboratory. The Chief Minister should now at least come to his senses and work towards saving the lives of people,” Chodankar said.
