The National Confederation of Human rights, Goa Unit, Council for Social Justice and Peace, human rights defenders and concerned citizens pointed out that the police inquiry into the Zuari Nagar triple suicide so far has missed some key issues which could provide more accurate and objective truths.
They have called for the inquiry to be conducted by an independent commission of inquiry in the wake of serious complaints of police harassment by the family of the deceased.
The groups have also pointed out that the suicide note said to be written by the deceased is yet to be proven as authentic. “The information we have suggests that none of the deceased victims were literate. What real evidence does the police have that the victims authored the note? Did they compare any two handwritings of the said victims?” they demanded to know.
They have urged GSHRC, GSWC and State Police Complaints Authority to take suo moto cognizance of the incident and conduct an inquiry.
