Upping the ante against the imposition of PDA in St Cruz constituency, a corner meeting was convened in Merces on Saturday to seek support of the villagers for the anti-GPPDA stir on April 6.
Addressing a largely attended meeting, speakers opined that Merces would also not be spared if politicians are successful in including St Cruz and Chimbel in the GPPDA.
“Let us all unite and participate in the agitation and show the politicians that the people have risen up against the PDA,” activist Arturo Souza appealed, while Rudolf Fernandes said that PDA was thrust 10 years back by the same person, who this time, has used a divisive trick by including St Cruz and Chimbel, while leaving out Merces.  “People should not fall for such divisive tricks.  If we keep quiet they will include Merces as well in the future,” Fernandes added.
Stating that the aim of the GPPDA is to extend Panaji, Elsa Dias said, “To save our villages it is important for all to surpass boundaries. Merces should extend support to the agitation. Because today we are facing a situation which will be faced by other villages in the future,” Dias appealed.
