The government has declared a paid holiday for government servants staying within the limits of polling station premises and for industrial and other workers.
Additional Collector, Johnson Fernandes informed that the a ban on the sale of liquor has been imposed within the two km radius of the polling station.
Returning Officer for Margao constituency Uday Prabhudesai informed that election officials had fanned out to the nook and corners of Aquem coming under the polling station No 8 of Margao constituency on Monday morning to spread awareness amongst the voters on tomorrow’s polling.
He said that BLOs were drafted for the job of going to the voters door-to-door with an appeal to come and cast their vote in the re-poll scheduled on Tuesday between 7 am to 5 pm. Besides BLOs, a propaganda vehicle was drafted for the purpose of creating awareness amongst the voters on the re-poll, he added.
Monday evening saw a group of polling officials and a policemen taking charge of the polling station located in the T B Cunha school premises. The polling team was finalized from the reserve team shortlisted by the district election officials.
Meanwhile, the government has declared a public holiday for the employees/offices situated within the limits of polling station no 8 (government primary school, T B Cunha, Aquem) in view of the re-poll.
Polling station no 8 of Margao Assembly constituency has a total of 791 votes and the re-poll was necessitated following a serious lapse on the part of the Presiding
officer on the day of polling when actual polling began without cleaning the EVM of the votes polled during mock polling.
