The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation's aim of completing the Arpora-Baga bridge within four months has suffered a setback, as the work has been kept pending due to delay in construction of the pillars.
The GSIDC had started construction work of the bridge at the cost of Rs 4.75 crore in June and the work was supposed to be completed by October. However, due to delay in construction of the pillars, the bridge is now likely to be completed in February 2017.
Speaking to The Goan, GSIDC manager Sandeep Chodankar said the work of the bridge was delayed due to rains and other reasons. “Both the pillars are being constructed and it will be completed within three months,” he added.
It may be recalled that during the inspection of the Baga-Arpora bridge, Calangute MLA Micheal Lobo had stated that the work was hampered due to rains and had assured to complete it by December.
