Anxious depositors descended on the office of an investment company in the commercial capital on Thursday after reports spread that the company has stopped paying the interest.
A couple of investors also made their presence felt at the Margao police station in the evening to brief the police about the investment company. They, however, decided to lodge the formal complaint after discussing the issue with other investors.
An investor told the media outside the Margao police station that he runs the risk of losing his hard-earned money, around Rs 10 lakh to be precise.
Earlier in the morning, beleaguered depositors assembled at the office of the investment company and questioned the office staff on the fate of their deposits.
The depositors claimed that they used to normally receive the interest by the eighth day of the month, but have not received a word from the company to date.
