Questions are swirling around the sudden turn of events in the Assagao house demolition case, particularly after Prinsha Pradeep Agarwadekar and her family met with Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday evening.
By late Wednesday evening, Agarwadekar had announced her decision to withdraw the complaint against the prime accused, Pooja Sharma, leaving many to wonder if the meeting played a pivotal role in this unexpected reversal.
Despite receiving visits and support from various political figures, including the Chief Minister, the Agarwadekar family chose to meet only with Sardesai.
When questioned about this decision, Prinsha Agarwadekar's response was succinct: "We went to thank him because he supported us in our hour of need."
When asked about Sardesai never visiting her Assagao residence, while several other senior politicians, including the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, had visited, Agarwadekar responded, "He had sent his representative here."
On Wednesday after meeting the family at a public durbar, MLA Vijai Sardesai himself clarified that he did not invite the family; they came of their own volition.
After the meeting, Sardesai was vocal in his criticism of the government’s handling of the Assagao demolition case.
Despite public posturing, the sequence of events has led to a lot of speculation about possible political maneuvering.
Why did the Agarwadekar family seek out Sardesai, who had not visited their Assagao residence, unlike several other senior politicians?
Was it merely a gesture of gratitude, or was there an underlying influence that led to the withdrawal of the complaint?
The abrupt decision has left many in Goa feeling betrayed and questioning the integrity of the process.
