Assault on old woman: AGSCF move dy collector over police inaction

VASCO
The All Goa Senior Citizens Federation (AGSCF) has urged the Mormugao Deputy Collector to investigate into the role of Hawaldar and Vasco police inspector in not taking serious action in the assault case of a 88-year-old woman, who was allegedly tortured by her daughter-in-law.
The Federation made the demand in a representation submitted to Mormugao Deputy Collector Mahadev Arondekar.
According to the Federation members, in July, the woman was badly beaten up and her son approached the Federation seeking help for his mother.
As the Federation did not get a good response from Vasco Police and with only a non-cognizable offence registered, the Federation took up the matter with Araundekar and will also approach higher authorities against atrocities against senior citizens.
When contacted, PI Vasco Nolasco Raposo said they have now registered the case under Section 325 of IPC.
