VASCO
The MES junction, an accident-prone zone, is likely to get electronic traffic signals soon. On Tuesday, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha convened a meeting with Deputy Collector Mormugao Mahadev Araundekar and Vasco Traffic PI Roy Pereira.
Arondekar said traffic signals and signage are of utmost importance to help ease vehicular traffic and prevent accidents at the junction.
According to sources, the meeting concluded and a report of suggestions to develop the MES junction was prepared by the Traffic Cell Vasco. The report has been forwarded to the DySP for review.
Sources informed that Saldanha has asked for preparation of final report soon and handed over to her so that she can take up the proposal with South Goa Collector.
At the meeting, Deputy collector Arondekar also raised the issue of speed menace by the yellow black cabs on the roads at Dabolim. He said the drivers speed on the roads expecting extra trips and it can endanger the life of the pedestrians.
"I will convene a meeting with the RTO and tourist taxi associations to discuss the issue," he added.
