MARGAO
Taking cognizance of media reports that the Lohia Chowk is lying in shambles and not been spruced up ahead of the Goa Revolution Day on Sunday, the TCP Minister requisitioned the help of the district collector Swapnil Nail to depute a gang of workers for the clean-up operation.
The TCP Minister, who will preside over the state sponsored Goa Revolution Day function at the historic Lohia Maidan at Margao, sought the Collector’s assistance to spruce up the Lohia Chowk at Assolna.
“If the shabby conditions at the Lohia Chowk memorial was brought to my notice some days ago, the entire place would have got a face lift with a fresh coat of paint,” Sardesai told the media, saying that he would work out a system to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the Assolna memorial.
The collector said a group of labourers were drafted for sprucing up the Assolna memorial late Saturday evening. “The labourers were told to clean up the area and remove the wild grass inside the memorial,” he added.
