Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports Shipad Naik on Wednesday said the first phase of the proposed All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, which includes a 250-bed hospital Dhargal-Pernem, will be completed within the next six months.
He said a 100-bed Ayurveda hospital will be completed by September this year.
“The first phase of the construction is complete. We will start the 100-bed Ayurveda hospital within six months. To start with, the OPD section will be opened first,” Naik said.
The union minister was speaking to the media after inaugurating a Patanjali store in Mapusa.
Continuing, Naik said besides providing health facilities, the Ayurveda hospital will also benefit the Goans by way of employment. He said 80 percent of the staff employed in the hospital will be from the State.
The institute was proposed when Shripad Naik was Union Minister of State for Ayush.
The estimated cost of the entire project is pegged at around Rs 270 crore.
As per the plans, the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy will also cater to over 500 students offering undergraduate, post graduate and PhD degrees.
Besides, the proposed hospital will be divided into two categories “ a 100-bed Ayurveda facility and a 150-bed Naturopathy OPD.
The institute will also have a hostel facility for doctors and students studying the medical college of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy.
