PANAJI: Loathe to jump onto the paper-less mode of operation, top babus in the State administration have been served a doze of prodding by the Goa Government -- pull up yours socks and log on to the e-mode.
In a stern circular, the general administration department has told all top bureaucrats in the State administration including secretaries, heads of departments, additional secretaries, joint secretaries and under secretaries, to invariably check their emails regularly, and without fail and act on them appropriately and promptly."It has been noticed that even though official email IDs have been provided to the officers of the rank of Secretaries/ HoDs/Addl Secretaries/ Joint secretaries/Under Secretaries to the government, the same is rarely used by the officers, thereby matters received via emails are unintentionally overlooked causing delays in processing the same," the circular issued a week ago said.
"When the Govemment is set to take steps for a paperless system, it is imperative that all officers should support this system," adds the circular which is issued by Manuel Barreto, under secretary in the General Administration Department.
Barreto says matters sent via emails by the Chief Secretary for giving response on issues flagged for the government of Goa by the Centre, the correspondence be communicated by e-mode promptly.
"The instructions mentioned should be scrupulously adhered to by all officers," Barreto's circular adds.
Barreto has marked copies of the ciruclar to the Chief Secretary, all secretaries to the Goa government, besides additional secretaries, joint secretaries, under secretaries and heads of all government departments who function inside and outside the State Secretariat at Porvorim.
