OLD GOA
The banner of Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate and Agnelo da Cunha was found defaced on Saturday.
The banner, greeting the people of St Cruz on Diwali, was put up near the Santa Cruz-Merces junction.
Cunha, who is staking claim for the BJP ticket, has already announced that he would contest from St Cruz constituency with the active support of Monserrate.
When contacted for his reaction to the act, Cunha told by The Goan that the people of St Cruz will decide whether they want to continue with such elements or whether they want a clean person who would be with them 24x7.
“People of St Cruz have told me clearly not to cow down to such acts and that they are with me. When the time comes, the people have told that they will show their reaction to such incidents at the ballot,” Cunha added.
Asked if he suspects anyone behind the act, Cunha replied in the negative but when persisted by The Goan, he said, “Those who do not want me to get the ticket or those who do not want me to contest in St Cruz could be behind the incident.”
“But I am the son of the soil and I will give a befitting reply when the time comes. I wish everybody good luck,” Cunha informed, while stating that he is firm in contesting from St Cruz and such types of incidents won’t deter his resolve.
