Goans visiting Belagavi may have no rooms available in Belagavi as the Winter Session of the State Legislature is being held here from Monday.
However, Goan tourism is likely get a major boost during the next week as those travelling from different parts of Karnataka have made it a practice to visit Goa which ideally lies close to Belagavi. More visitors are expected during the weekends as Saturday and Sunday is the holiday for the session.
The 10 day session is being held at the mammoth structure of ‘Suvarna Vidhan Soudha’. Located on the NH4, the otherwise silent building which is located about 12 km from Belagavi, will witness flurry of activities as the State capital will be functioning from Belagavi till December 24.
A strong force of over 4000 people including the State Cabinet, bureaucrats and elected representatives will be camping in Belagavi from Monday due to which all the hotels and lodges in the city have been booked till Christmas.
Apart from this 4000 strong police force comprising of 15 superintendents of police, 40 Dy SPs. 200 PIs has been deployed in the city since Friday, giving Belagavi a fortified look.
Hence, Goans visiting Belagavi from Monday will have no room till Christmas as the bookings in advance have been also cancelled to accommodate the elected representatives, bureaucrats and other officials.
