Savio D Silva said only a lone boat returned to the jetty on Monday evening with a poor catch. “We are hopeful that the weather conditions will improve in the next 2-3 days,” Savio said.The president of Cutbona Boat Owners Union (Purse seining), Seby Cardozo said that though the weather was conducive for fishing in the morning, the gusty winds adversely affected the activity.Replying to a question, Seby said that around 60-70 per cent of the total boats operating from the Cutbona fishing jetty had ventured out in the seat on the first day of the new fishing season. “The balance boats, around 50-60 could not go out for want of manpower,” he said, adding that these boats will now venture out once the migrant crew reports at the jetty in a day or two.
Transport Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar has promised that the new central motor vehicle legislation would solve all the woes of the transport sector in the state including regulation, public transport as well as services for users.
