The incident came to light when the 15-year-old girl narrated her ordeal to the Old Goa police on Thursday and the accused, Sidappa Harnaval (48) was later arrested.
According to Old Goa police, both the accused and victim hail from Bagalkot-Karnataka, with the accused working as a truck driver in Goa.
“On April 29, the accused Harnaval noticed the girl alone and crying at the Bagalkot bus stand. Upon inquiries with the girl, the accused came to know that the girl was fed up with her family and wanted to flee from home,” said a policeman, while informing that the accused had promised to take the girl to Goa and find her a job.
The police then informed that both the accused and girl reached Goa on May 1 and the accused took her to his place in Santa Cruz, where he was staying in a shanty and allegedly raped her for three consecutive days. “The minor girl approached us and informed about the incident, based on which the accused Harnaval was arrested,” said the policeman and stated that medical examination was carried out on both.  “The girl’s parents have been informed of the incident and they are likely to reach Goa in a day or two,” the policeman said.
The accused is currently lodged in the Ribandar lock up and will be produced in the court on Friday for further remand.
