The Association of the United Bahujans of Goa on Friday criticised the State government for not fulfilling their promises made before the 2012 assembly elections. They also pointed to the recently launched health insurance scheme, Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) as not functioning properly.
Speaking to media persons in Panaji, United Bahujans of Goa’s spokesperson Santosh Mandrekar said the BJP had gone back on their promise of generating employment and has instead resorted to distributing freebies and launching schemes.
“Parrikar had in the 2012 election manifesto promised to create and deliver 50,000 jobs to the youth in our State but has done nothing till date. Everyday there are 3,500 Goans registering at the employment exchange but none of them are being given jobs,” he said pointing to the need for a legislative decision to include the private sector in the job-share delivery to Goans.
Objections were also raised to the functioning of the DDSSY scheme that association members claim don’t function smoothly. “Some private hospitals don’t even admit the patient if the card is shown and instead say that the patient should pay
for certain amount of the treatment,” said one association member.
“The Bahujan Samaj has always been the outcast lot. We are only used during election time and then our problems and issues are forgotten. We will only get justice if the CM himself belongs to the
Bahujan Samaj,” said
association general secretary Sanjay Barde.
