Bengaluru's AI start-up CEO Suchana Seth's estranged husband Venkatraman’s lawyer Azhar has claimed that seeking justice for his client and deceased four-year-old son might be futile since irreversible damage has been done by the son's death.

Stepping out of the police station after Venkatraman’s hours of questioning, Azhar said the man is shattered.

Asked whether the grieving father would file a separate case against his estranged wife, Adv Azhar said “what is left for him now? His family is gone… wife is in jail, son is dead… I don’t know whether it would be jail or bail for Suchana…I don’t think it matters to him (Venkatraman) any longer”.

While expressing gratitude to the media and supporters in the case, Azhar suggested that this case could possibly serve as justice for estranged couples involved in custody battles, to live peacefully.

“There is no justice for him (Venkatraman) or his son. His (Venkatraman’s) emotions are numb. This case might probably serve as justice to those currently in a dispute and fighting for child’s custody. In the entire battle (between an estranged couple), only the child loses. I hope this (case) could bring justice to somebody else (other estranged couples) to stop fighting and make peace,” he said.

The lawyer revealed that the once-happy marriage of the couple abruptly ended after 8-10 years, but declined to give details of the case citing the preliminary stage of the investigation and cross-examination.

“There was a custody battle in the court. Investigation is underway. We don’t know what happened in the hotel. How and why did it happen? Until the investigation is over, we don’t know…” he said replying to media queries.

Venkatraman has denied charges of domestic abuse or that he ill-treated his son, made by Suchana to the Calangute police while rewinding his life since he met Suchana before marriage.
