The Bandora gram sabha on Sunday resolved to seek police verification of persons staying in Sanatan Sanstha at Ramnathi and expressed surprise over PWD awarding a contract to a firm for Rs 12 lakh for cleaning the roads.
The gram sabha presided by Sarpanch Ramchandra Naik lasted for quite some time and ended at 5 pm. Secretary Satchit Gaude and other members were present.
It may be recalled that the last gram sabha held on February 10 had witnessed heated arguments after villagers demanded NOCs should not be provided to develop plots at Katamgall-Farmagudi.
The same issue was taken up today also and villagers again questioned panch members why panchayat authorities had failed to challenge it in court, which had given ex parte decision in favour of the builder. Cornered by the irate villagers, panch members had no answers while Sarpanch Ramnchandra Naik assured to challenge it again.
The locals also raised the issue of Sanatan Sanstha saying many people frequented the premises and hence panchayat should have all details of them and conduct a police verification.
Villagers raised doubts over activities carried out and the type of persons that are living in the Sanatan premises. The urged the panchayat authorities to approach the police so that proper verification
is done.
Adv. Surel Tilve a resident also informed the panchayat that Public Works Department had given the roadside cleanliness contract to a firm for Rs 12 lakh. He however, said there was no sign of any cleanliness along the roads. Panch members said they were not aware of any of such contract.
