The Nuvem gram sabha on Sunday discussed issues of imposing of garbage fees on residential and commercial establishments, revision of house tax and enhancement of trade license on shops and establishments in the village.
The meeting chaired by deputy Sarpanch Conceicao D’Costa on Sunday also gave its stamp of approval for the annual budget for the financial year 2019-20 pegged at Rs 4.7 crore. The audit report for the financial year 2017-18 was also placed before the gram sabha.
The issue over the imposing of garbage fees on both residential and commercial establishments was placed before the gram sabha. Suggestions were invited by the panchayat body from the gram sabha how to go about levying the garbage fees on both the residential households and the establishments.
The issue of re-assessment of house tax also came up for discussion. As the Panchayat was planning to revise the house tax, the question of re-assessment of house tax was deliberated at the meeting.
With gram sabha members making their suggestions on the re-assessment of the houses, the same will be decided upon at the next gram sabha.
On the question of revision/enhancement of trade tax, members suggested that the trade tax should be revised at a minimum rate of Rs 1000 per square meter.
