PERNEM: A 34-year-old man from Bangladesh was arrested by Pernem police at Pethechawada-Corgao on charges of illegally staying in the country.
According to Pernem police, Abdur Rahman Shaikh was found residing in the State without valid travel documents, thereby contravening Section 23(a) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Shaikh was placed under arrest and the Bangladesh Consulate was notified through the FRRO Panaji. He was later remanded to judicial custody for six days.
Pernem PSI Sahil Naik is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Nitin Halarnkar and the guidance of SDPO Salim Shaikh and SP (North) Porvorim Harishchandra Madkaikar.
