Bardez’s Covid-19 graph continues to rise with over 100 positive cases reported from six health centres in the taluka on Sunday.
With 35 cases, Porvorim primary health centre reported highest number of infections followed by Mapusa urban health with 30 and Candolim PHC with 28 cases.
The primary health centres of Siolim and Aldona clocked lowest figures at four and three respectively.
Health Officer, Roshan Nazareth who holds additional charge of Porvorim PHC informed that 17 persons tested positive in Socorro, 15 in Penha de France, two in Salvador do Mundo and one in Guirim
According to the Health Officer of Mapusa urban health centre, Dr Cheryl de Souza 30 persons tested positive on Sunday. 10 persons tested positive in Khorlim, four each in Ansabhat and Ekta Nagar, three in Feira Alta, two in Peddem and one each in Morod, Dangui Colony, Mapusa city, Acoi, Duler, Cunchelim and Dattawadi.
A total of 28 persons were infected with coronavirus in Candolim PHC on Sunday. Health Officer, Dr Roshan Nazareth informed that nine persons tested positive in Calangute, six in Reis Magos, four in Arpora, three in Pilerne, two each in Sangolda and Saligao and one each in Nerul and Candolim.
Health Officer at Colvale primary health centre, Dr Damodar Narvenkar informed that 12 persons tested positive in his jurisdiction. Four persons tested positive in Revora, three in Nadora, two in Tivim and one each in Assonora, Camurlim and Pirna.
Siolim primary health centre recorded four positive cases “ Siolim (2) and Canca (2).
Similarly, Aldona primary health centre recorded three positive cases “ Bastora (2) and Aldona (1).
15 new cases in Canacona
CANACONA: Covid cases continue to hit new benchmarks in Canacona as 15 new cases were recorded taking the overall tally to 325 in the taluka.
According to Health Officer Dr Vandana Desai, 15 positive cases were detected since Saturday (10) and 5 on Sunday taking the overall total to 325.
Though there is also improvement in recovery figures, which according to Dr Desai the Saturday’s 112 active cases presently stands at 105, however are still high and above the 100-mark.
It may be recalled that the active cases had soared to over 150 by September 11, while the total figure had crossed a new milestone of 300-mark last Thursday.
While a 35-year-old cook at CHC Canacona (Sheller) and another staff nurse at PHC Balli (from Agonda) are the latest medical staff to test positive, 4 persons from Tarir-Rajbhag, 3 from Partagal, Patnem (2), Sheller (2), Tembewada (1), Gaondongrim (1), Poinguinim (2), besides 2-close kin of former Canacona MLA Vijay Poi Khot are the latest to get infected with the virus.
Interestingly, almost all of the infected are symptomatic and have been home quarantined for a period of 17 days.
