Seven crew members were unhurt when a barge accidentally struck a pillar of the old Zuari bridge on Sunday night.
The pillar and the barge are reported to have sustained minor damages in the incident.
According to sources, the incident took place at about 8.30 pm on Sunday, when the barge was moving from Cortalim to the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT).
The barge accidentally struck Pillar 3 of the old Zuari bridge, but the seven crew members on board the barge were unhurt.
The Coastal Police later carried out a panchanama and registered an accident case, while also notifying the Captain of Ports, PWD and other authorities about the incident.
“The actual damage to the pillar and the bridge will be ascertained only after a proper inspection is carried out," the source added.
