Villagers of Bastora raised urgent concerns at Sunday’s gram sabha about a faulty and hazardous traffic signal at a local junction, urging the panchayat to take immediate corrective action to prevent accidents.
Local resident Sagar Salgaonkar highlighted the seriousness of the issue, calling on the panchayat to address the malfunctioning traffic signal to improve safety. He also pointed out that improperly parked vehicles in the area were causing additional problems for drivers.
In response, Bastora Sarpanch Subhash Morjakar assured the villagers that their concerns would be conveyed to the relevant authorities, including the transport department.
Another significant topic discussed was the availability of the panchayat ground in the Boavista area.
Residents expressed dissatisfaction that the ground was not accessible to locals and demanded an explanation from the panchayat. This issue sparked a debate among some villagers.
The sarpanch promised to provide complete information on the matter at the next meeting.
The gram sabha also addressed various development issues.
At the start of the meeting, Gita Salgaonkar, a nurse at the local sub-centre of the health department, informed villagers about various health schemes available to them.
Additionally, it was noted that notices had been sent to several residents in the Chandanwadi area for neglecting water drainage responsibilities.
Plans were also discussed to improve facilities for citizens by relocating the sub-centre currently situated in the panchayat office.
