This panchayat in the entire taluka of Bicholim has highest number of contestants, as it has 11 wards and also the number of contestants in each ward is the highest.
About 50 percent of the contestants are past panchas including the members from the last tenure. Among the old faces contesting are former panchas Mahesh Sawant, former sarpanch Aaryan Gaonkar, Mohammad Madar, Mukund Vaigankar, Rajesh Naik and Fondu Sawant.
Past panchas who are not contesting are former sarpanchas Divya Kharkande, Jayashri Tari, former deputy sarpanch Dhiraj Sawant and panchas Keshav Mayekar, Deepak Dhawaskar, Sacchit Sawant and Shamin Banu Madar.
Dattaprasad Kharkande will contest from Ward 4 in place of his wife Divya, while Mohammad Madar will contest from Ward 11 in place of his wife Shamin Banu. Adv Amol Sawant will contest from Ward 9, where he faces Ramesh Sawant and Vinay Sawant.
