Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar flagging off the AIDS awareness rally along with noted Goan singer Hema Sardesai and others.
Noted Goan singer Hema Sardesai has appealed to parents to behave like friends with their children and to openly discuss all issues.
Addressing an AIDS awareness rally organised by students of various high schools in Pernem, Sardesai also appealed to make Goa and India free from AIDS. The rally was inaugurated by Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar in the presence of Sardesai, Anita Pereira, Maria Fernandes and Vimal Bhat, among others.
Udant Organisation has been organising AIDS awareness events at various places across the State and Pernem’s rally was a part of this programme.
“Parents should discuss about AIDS with their teenaged children and inform them about the disease and how it is contracted. They should also advise their children on how to stay away from AIDS,” said the noted singer.
“We all can be a part of the bigger mission of making India AIDS-free, and without any reluctance, we must be open for discussion on this topic,” added Sardesai, while also appealing to people not to discriminate people affected with AIDS.
