The Panaji police arrested a Belagavi man for allegedly stalking and outraging the modesty of a woman doctor from Porvorim. The police said the incidents have reportedly been taking place since 2019.
In her written complaint against Irappa Talwar, currently residing and working at a hotel in Panaji, the victim alleged that he had been stalking her on several occasions over the past few years.
In the latest incident, the woman alleged that the accused confronted her on August 2 around 9:15 am at a petrol pump and again on August 4, at around 8:45 am near a showroom, both in Panaji.
“The accused made repeated attempts to grab her attention by wearing bright-coloured shirts, waving, smacking his lips, adjusting his collar, and making offensive gestures aimed at her, thus outraging her modesty. The situation escalated when her driver and his friend attempted to stop the accused, who allegedly assaulted both,” the police said, quoting allegations from the complaint copy.
The police arrested the man under relevant sections of the BNS.
