Beleaguered depositors of Visionaries Cooperative Societies, Loutolim took out a rally to the Colva police station on Monday to demand registration of FIR against the people responsible for delay in paying back their matured deposits.

The depositors also called on the Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa and later descended at the office of the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies, South Goa at the Gomant Vidya Niketan to press for registration of FIR and payment of their deposits.

Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao also called on the depositors at Colva when they had come in a rally to demand FIR against all those responsible for their trauma and ordeal. When the depositors went to the Colva police station to inquire about the status of their complaints, they found that no FIR was registered in the case.

At the office of the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies, the depositors demanded to know why the government had suddenly decided to appoint an official as chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Cooperative Society. While pointing out that the decision to appoint an official as the Chairman was taken with malafide intention, the depositors demanded that the government appoint one of the depositors, who have been appointed as administrators, as chairman of the society.

They also confronted the Assistant Registrar Pundalik Parab for delay in filing FIR to initiate action against the management of the Visionaries Cooperative Society.

The depositors demanded to know how the cooperative society continued to accept deposits from gullible investors when they could not pay the matured deposits.

Parab later told the media that the depositors had come to his office with a demand that the Chairman of the administrative committee appointed by the government be from amongst the depositors and not a government nominee.

“I have conveyed their demand to the head office since the correspondence to appoint a government official as a chairman had come from Panjim,” he added.
