Bethora dy sarpanch ousted
PONDA: Bethora-Nirankal Deputy Sarpanch Sadanand Gaonkar was on Thursday ousted after a no-confidence motion moved against him was passed by 5 votes to 4.
Sarpanch Punam Samant along with Chandrakant Samant, Durgaprasad Vaidya, Rajendra Naik and Jyoti Gawade had moved the no-confidence motion accusing Gaonkar of not cooperating in panchayat affairs.
Sadguru Madkaikar from the BDO was the observer, while secretary Vinod Shetkar assisted him.
Gaonkar along with Panchas Prasad Prabhugaonkar, Manda Gawade and Premanand Shetkar had supported villagers in the gram sabha on October 23, demanding discussion over confirmation of previous gram sabha minutes.
But Sarpanch Samant told the gram sabha that she had confirmed the minutes and went on to dissolve the gram sabha amid ruckus.
On October 24, the four-member panchas led by Sadanand Gaonkar and a group of other villagers had demanded a special gram sabha over the issue of 'Makadmare' whose huts were demolished on October 15. Sources informed that the sarpanch and her four supporters are reluctant to convene a special gram sabha.
