Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that Sattari and Sanguem talukas will be adopted by the health department in the coming days to provide better health facilities in rural areas. He said efforts will be made to adopt modern facilities to every corner of the rural areas.

The Health Minister was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Mega Medical Camp organized at Advoi in Bhironda panchayat.

Cancer OPD

Cancer patients have to travel to cities like Mumbai for treatment. Several families with financial issues cannot afford to go outside the State for treatment. Hence, a cancer hospital has been constructed in Goa at a cost of Rs 150 crore. The Health Minister informed that the OPD will start by April 15.

Satellite OPDs

Several talukas are far from cities. Patients face hardships in travelling to the Goa Medical College at Bambolim. Hence, the health department has started Satellite OPD. Under this initiative, specialist doctors of Goa Medical College visit the nearest hospital in rural areas and examine the patients. The Health Minister said the Satellite OPD creates better facilities for common patients. He said thousands of patients have been examined by expert doctors of Goa Medical College through the initiative.

New facilities Advoi

Advoi Health Centre was started one year ago. Basic needs facilities are available here, but better facilities will be provided in the coming days. No need to travel to Valpoi or Sankhali for a blood test or other fee work, said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane while assuring to provide such facilities at the Advoi centre.
