PORVORIM
Claiming that in the age of competition, it is better to be a jack of many trades rather than master of one, Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has appealed to students to acquire knowledge in other spheres.
“One can’t say or predict in which trade one will get an opportunity to excel. Hence, students should try and acquire expertise in other fields of activities such as art, sports, etc. apart from education and become competent enough to face the challenges of life,” said Khaunte.
He was addressing a function to distribute seed balls to the students organised by Jeshth Nagrik Manch of Porvorim in association with Penha de Franca panchayat at the Pundalik
devasthan hall.
“Seed ball technique is not new and it is being used to grow trees all over the world. It is the responsibility of each and every citizen to protect environment.”“Students can play a bigger role in this respect. If they take up the responsibility of planting saplings in their areas and protect them, they will get the support of their families in this endeavour and in future we will see a green and clean Porvorim,” said the minister.
He complimented the senior citizens of Porvorim for taking up the initiative to prepare the seed balls.
Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, Zilla Panchayat Member Gupesh Naik and President of Jesth Nagarik Manch Anil Raje also spoke at the function.
